Player of the Year Awards, 2006

An appreciative crowd turned up in force to pay tribute to Dublin’s inter-county players at the Dublin GAA Supporters Club Player of the Awards on 16 February in the Regency Hotel. Tony Cluskey, Chairman of the Club presided over affairs making presentations to players of many codes.





First to receive an award was Paddy Andrews winner of the Robin Kivlehan Memorial Award for Minor Player of the Year.










Anne McCluskey received her award as Camogie Player of the Year and a 2nd award to mark the 2006 Junior All-Ireland success and then Niamh McEvoy stepped up to accept an award to recognise our U16 Ladies Football victory last year.





There was stiff competition for the Hurler of the Year award with rising star Tomas Brady winning, Sinead Aherne won Ladies Footballer of the Year and Alan Brogan was awarded Footballer of the Year.

The awards concluded with a special tribute to the voice of Gaelic Games in the capital. Brian Carthy led the tributes to the recipient of the John O’Neill Memorial award marking the outstanding contribution of the legend that is Sean Og O’Ceallachain.
