Tom Murphy R.I.P.

The Committee and members of Dublin GAA Supporters Club express their sympathy to the Murphy family on the passing away of our close friend, Tom Murphy.

The thoughts of all Club members are with Joan, Eamonn & Jean, at this painful time.

Tom has been a member of the Club for many years and served as many as Chairman and Treasurer. He will be missed on our busses and at the Player of the Year Awards. He invested an enormous amount of time in promoting the Club and when the Club most needed him, Tom was there. We will not forget.

Tom's first love was hurling and he was immensely proud of the efforts of our teams this year. He was delighted to hold the Leinster trophy earlier in the summer and although he couldn't be at the U21 All Ireland Final, he was there in spirit.

We will miss you at the games next year, Tom. But along with Robin Kivlehan & John O'Neill we can only imagine the banter proposing your team selections and urging every shot over the bar. Joan, you have so many friends in Dublin, we share your pain and be sure we will be there for you in whatever way we can.

Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.

The hurling fields of Dublin are quiet today;
The clash of the ash a sound far away.
A friend, a supporter, a true gentleman;
Has left us in sadness, one less Dublin fan.

He showed us that hurling was God's first true game;
Our Hill 16 memories will always remain.
We will never forget him, and his hurling love,
As he looks down from Heaven, from his Hill above.

Tom, Joan and Brendan McLoughlin.
