Presentation to Tommy Drumm

Football final, September 1983, a day Dublin fans will never forget as the Sam Maguire returned to the capital after a period of 6 years.  Dublin had progressed after a semi-final replay hammering of Cork in Pairc uiChaoimh and in a tempestuous encounter won out.  The final is simplistically depicted as the day the 12 Apostles stood firm against the men from the west but this reflection does a disservice to the efforts of all the players in ensuring that the Jacks were back.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the win the Club made a presentation to the 83 captain, Tommy Drumm, on behalf of a team that remains close to all Dublin fans.

We know when the team walk out onto the pitch at the 2008 Football Final that one man will be missing.  Mick Holden, RIP, will not be there & will be represented by his family. The day will be sadder for his absence.

For the record the team on the day was:  John O'Leary, Mick Holden, Gerry Hargan, Ray Hazely, Pat Canavan, Tommy Drumm, PJ Buckley, Jim Ronayne, Brian Mullins, Barney Rock, Tommy Conroy, Ciaran Duff, John Caffrey, Anton O'Toole, Joe McNally.
