There was a warm handshake before the throw between Anthony Daly & The Sparrow. But friendship was postponed for 70+ minutes as the Dubs blitzed a Clare team that just couldn’t match the Metropolitans.

It started quietly but then the Blues found their way with Dotsy in unstoppable form. Tiem and again he received great ball cut right before turning sharply left & bang over the bar for score after score. Score after score came from the Dubs 9 on the pull and even with a few late scores from the Banner men the Dubs led by 7 at half time 0-14 to 0-07.

The Sparrow chirped loudly at his men in the 2nd period & the Dubs, wet on the Hill were in despair when Clare kept at the Dubs and there was only 1 in it. Cometh the hour when an impressive Peter Kelly lobbed a ball into the square, the keeper lost it in the flight over his head and softly into the net. This spurred on the Dubs and two brilliant sideline cuts from McCrabbe matched with a great goal would see the Dubs comfortable home. Again Dotsy proved a handful in this half setting up substitute Simon Lambert for a piledriver.

The draw proved kind to the Dubs as next up its Antrim. Nothing to be taken for granted but the draw could have been harder.

The Club sends on its best wishes to the 2 Clare players, Patrick Donnellan & Pat Vaughan, stretchered from the field and hopes for a speedy recovery.
