Dublin 0-25 Laois 0-16
Dublin booked their place in Leinster SHC semi final after a professional win over Laois. Scoring 25 points and hitting only 6 wides Anthony Daly will have some cause to be happy. But bigger tests are ahead.
It was nip and tuck through the 1st half, the sides level on 7 occasions, & the Blues went in only 2 points clear at half time, 0-10 to 0-08. In this period Shane Durking fired over a cracking point and Supporters Club Player of the Year, Alan McCrabbe, cut over from the sideline.
The 2nd half will be remembered by the O’Moore men for 2 sendings off. In truth the 2nd occurred very late on and had little impact on the game, but the Dubs made hay following the 45th minute sending off of the Laois number 5.
It was the Dublin midfield that did so much damage through the day with McCaffrey and Durkin in sparkling form.
On now to the June 20 meeting with Kilkenny. The Dubs know they will have to lift their game and the Cats will not hit the number of wides Laois hit. However with so many of the young Dubs with good memories about beating Kilkenny at under age level, Brian Cody also knows he will be in for a test.
